Job Description

Responsible for providing expert technical support, commissioning, optimization, and lifecycle care for Fermel Trackless Mobile Machinery (TMM) in the field. The role bridges customers, service teams, and engineering to maximize machine uptime, safety, and total cost of ownership while driving parts and service revenue.

·           Customer & Field Support

Responsible for on-site diagnostics, fault finding and repair of hydraulic, electrical and electronic systems (CANbus/PLC/telemetry).

Responsible for commissioning, acceptance testing, and performance optimization of new and rebuilt TMM.

Provide remote technical assistance and escalation support to field service technicians.

·           Safety, Compliance & Quality

Conduct brake tests, safety function checks, and statutory inspections in line with MHSA, OEM procedures and site standards.

Support CAS Level 9/Collision Avoidance prototyping, testing, calibration and reports.

Drive root-cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for recurring failures; raise quality alerts and update standard work.

·           Product Performance & Improvement

Capture machine condition data, including Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), failure modes, and operating parameters.

Recommend modifications or upgrades to improve reliability, maintainability, and uptime.

Feed field insights to Engineering on design-for-reliability and maintainability; validate service bulletins and retrofits.

·           Training & Skills Transfer

Deliver operator and artisan training (safe operation, daily checks, basic troubleshooting).

Develop quick reference guides, checklists and job cards to uplift site maintenance capability.

·           Aftermarket Sales Enablement

Identify and scope parts, kits, and service opportunities; assist with quotations and bill of materials (BOM) for interventions.

Support planned maintenance programs, component change-outs, campaigns and mid-life rebuilds.

·           Warranty & Documentation

Administer warranty claims (evidence packs, failure analysis, parts returns) and ensure timely resolution.

Maintain accurate service reports, commissioning records, test sheets and customer sign-offs in the CRM/ERP.

·           Stakeholder Management

Build strong relationships with mine maintenance, safety and production teams.

Represent Fermel in technical meetings, performance reviews and audits on site.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Job Requirements

·                              Qualifications
·                              Red Seal Millwright / Electro-Mechanician (preferred) or relevant Trade Test; or National Diploma (Mechanical/Electrical).
·                              Valid driver’s license and medical fitness for mine work; willingness to obtain site inductions and safety passports.
·                              Experience
·         4–7+ years’ hands-on experience with heavy mobile equipment (ideally underground TMM).
·         Proven diagnostics on hydraulics, electrics, CANbus/PLC, sensors and control systems; ability to read schematics.
·         Exposure to collision avoidance systems (e.g., CAS Level 9), telemetry/telematics, braking and safety systems.
·         Commissioning, field service or product specialist background in mining OEM/aftermarket environment.
·         Technical Competence
·         Hydraulic circuits, pumps/valves, driveline, braking, electrical harnesses, controllers and parameter setting.
·         Use of diagnostic software/tools, data loggers and measurement equipment.
·         Competent with MS Office; familiar with ERP/CRM (parts lookups, job cards, service history).
